Forget New Years Resolutions – 4 Steps To Achieving Your Goals | Minority Mindset – Jaspreet Singh
What’s up everybody I am Jaspreet Singh & welcome to the Minority Mindset. New Years is around the corner
That means the majority is getting ready to start their new years resolution. Well guess what, I have news for you.
Are you ready for it?
92% of new years resolutions fail.
If 92% fail, that means, only 8% of people who make a new years resolution will hit their goal.
If you ask me, new years resolutions are stupid.
The only thing special about January 1st is that you might get a day off of school or work, and you are going to change the calendar on your wall.
Or if you’re like me, you end up waiting until February or March to change the calendar, but that’s besides the point.
If you are fat in November, why do you want to wait until January 1st to start working out? Or If you’re in debt in October, why wait until the new year before you start budgeting your money.
The reason most New Years resolutions fail is because we create this mindset that once the new year is here, our life is going to change.
I got the calendar, calendar, calendar. January 1st, new year, new me.
So then, we make all these goals that are supposed to start on January 1st, because we’ve created this new year new me mindset,
and then we go all in..
For about two weeks.
Change doesn’t happen when we put up a new calendar. Change happens when we make change happen.
So here is what you can do to start making goals that work today.
First, stop waiting for some thing to happen to work towards your goals. Stop waiting on some future date and stop waiting for other people. You have to live your life, don’t let something else slow you down, start today.
Second, create pyramid goals. Pyramid goals are essentially the same as pyramid workouts for all my fitness people.
Pyramid workouts are when you start off doing a work out with light weights and then you move heavier. So I might start doing curls with 10 pounds, then 20 pounds, then 30 pounds and it gets heavier and heavier every set.
Start with the end for your goal. What do you want to do and be specific. Now, work backwards to create baby steps that will take you to your goal.
These steps should be broken down so they are stupid simple. Your early goals need to be stupid easy to achieve.
The problem most people have is that they make goals like I want to make $100,000 next year, they write it down, and then they hope it comes true because they wrote it down.
365 days later, they’re right back where they were a year before.
Third, hold yourself accountable with recourse. If your goal is to run a mile every day and you don’t do it, you need to have a punishment.
Remember those days when you were young and you did something bad the teacher would put you time out so you couldn’t play outside.
Well, time-outs back. If you don’t like asparagus, force yourself to eat asparagus every time you don’t do what you’re supposed to.
This way you have extra motivation to push you further because no one likes timeout. When I was trying to get in shape, I forced myself to run an extra lap on the treadmill every time I missed a day in the gym. Do something to hold yourself accountable.
And fourth, you’ve heard everyone say write down your goals. But I like to take it a little bit further.
Write down your goals, but write down your daily steps and weekly goals. Every night before you sleep, write down your goals for the next day and every Sunday write down your goals for the next week.
This way you can make changes when you need to because, things never happen the way you plan.

No one’s ever achieved financial fitness with a January resolution that’s abandoned by February.
People can say whatever they want about the sport of bodybuilding, but to get prepared to do a contest or even think about doing a contest, or even to get into decent shape, it requires a certain amount of discipline, and it comes from taking a new year’s resolution to a lifestyle.
Sometimes we know the best thing to do, but fail to do it. New year’s resolutions are often like that. We make resolutions because we know it would be better for us to lose weight, or get fit, or spend more time with our children. The problem is that a resolution is generally easier to break than it is to keep.
New Year’s Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change.

Make New Year’s goals. Dig within, and discover what you would like to have happen in your life this year. This helps you do your part. It is an affirmation that you’re interested in fully living life in the year to come.
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.
New Year’s Resolution. January is a time to make goals of how you want to improve in the next year. However, Matt decides on resolutions that aren’t improvements. Watch and see if Matt becomes bad to the bone.
